S'up! I am Mari Chiesa Caplan.

Right now you are probably trying to figure out how to say Chiesa and wondering what the heck is a Chiesa ? I understand. It sounds like "Key- Ay -Suh" and I'm not Italian but my understanding is that 'chiesa' translates as 'church' in Italian. ( 'Mari' btw sounds like "Mary." In fact, on my birth certificate is says 'Mary" but I changed the spelling when I was eleven because I just didn't feel like a " Y. ")  I could give you more back story about how I got this name, but listen, the average lifespan is only what, like... 76 years? Your time on earth is too precious.

I will tell you that while I wasn't raised with any particular religious dogma I don't remember a time in my life when I wasn't asking myself the mac daddy questions like; What is spirit? How are we all connected? What happens when we die? Why are we here? How can we learn to stop waring with ourselves and others? How many licks does it take to get to the end of a Tootsie Pop? ( sorry. had to. ) I'm a mystic at heart, an intrepid adventurer of the soul. And I'm a little weird. But really...who isn't? Right?

And this blog? What's it all about?...Alfie? ( sorry. had to.) Well, its about Moulting. Its about stripping away the protective layers of freezer burn that coat our essential selves. So then I guess it's about Melting too. In this here bloggy I write sometimes seriously, but more often irreverently, about the mundane human condition and sometimes I blab on about the deeper, meatier aspects of being human. I often add pictures. Because I think grown up blogs and books can have pictures just like kids books. Who made the rule that they should not? Its a sucky rule. I'm breaking it.


I play fast and loose with punctuation. I know that this is a crime punishable by death for many, many people. I don't care. Sue me.
